Have you heard of EF College Break? I've been stalking their site for a few years. Just dreaming of the idea that I could do that. That I could travel somewhere outside of the western United States. I mean, I've been to Florida once when I was like 13 or something and I got burnt to hell and almost eaten by an alligator. Not my favorite experience.
Other than that, the furthest east I've been would be umm Helena, Montana?
I never left the country and thought the idea of doing so was like some far out dream that would only happen when I was rich with a giant house and super obedient puppies. It wasn't something I saw myself ever getting the chance to do anytime soon.
However, I've been on a business hustle lately and within that hustle I've been reading new books, listening to podcasts, following other awesome entrepreneurs, and realizing that I'm tired of living the "if this than that" lifestyle.
Examples of such lifestyle: "IF I am rich THEN I can travel" "IF my business is super successful THEN I can have a studio" "IF I quit my job THEN I'll be happy"
I decided that it was time to change some of those IFs to WHENs and cross off the THENs altogether.
I'm not saying go out and do whatever you want, you have to be reasonable to a point. What I am saying is to stop putting blocks and excuses in the way of what you want.
I wanted a studio so I made one in my front room.
I wanted to travel so I put a down payment on a Grand Tour of Europe 30 day trip for next year.
Also, I stopped waiting for people. If I waited for people to join me, I'd never go (another block I had). So I signed up and I'm preparing to go solo. If that changes, awesome. If not, awesome.
The payments are $458/mo for about a year and I'm not entirely sure I can comfortably afford it. I figure it'll do two things for me. One, it will give me a huge kick in the rear to rev up my business engines. Two, it will help me readjust my priorities. Is Netflix really that important? (let's be real, I mean after I finish watching season 3 of Orange is the New Black) How important are my never-ending Target trips? My unnecessary Hollister & Rue 21 hauls? All those video games on Steam? The ridiculous amounts of makeup?
It's time to fix my priorities and get shit in order.
Now let's get to the task at hand. My first task is most definitely to get a passport!
I did some research and found only one of our Post Offices do passports and you need an appointment. So I did just that and Tuesday the 7th at noon I'm set up for going in with my completed but not signed application, original birth certificate, and my drivers license. Oh, and $135, we can't forget that.
Go on,
Glady Anne
